Substance Abuse Testing

Purpose

Urine is considered the gold standard for drug and alcohol testing. Urine drug tests are cost-effective and easy to administer. They have been in use for many years, and technology has advanced during this time. So the quality of results through the laboratory screening is secure.

Features

The window of detection in urine specimens is as early as two hours after use to an average of 72 hours after use, depending on the individual’s metabolism and the drug. Results of a urine test show the presence or absence of specific drugs or drug metabolites in the urine. Metabolites are drug residues that remain in the system for some time after the effects of the drug have worn off. A positive urine test does not necessarily mean the subject was under the influence of drugs at the time of the test. Rather, it detects and measures use of a particular drug within the previous few days.

Testing Procedure

A sample collection process is performing on the customer’s locations. It is following with full Chain of Custody protocol with uniform collection procedures and integrity of analysis. We use split specimen urine drug testing instead of regular one. The urine sample is split into two vials and delivered to SAMHSA certified laboratory for urine testing and analysis. One of these vials is tested upon arrival at the lab and the other is stored frozen for litigation purposes.

Samples that screen positive will then be tested further by GC-MS, or LC-MS (Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry, or Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry), which can identify with precision the drugs present in the sample. In this case the person who submitted the sample can request a new test ant the 2nd vial is sent to a Medical Review Officer.
